Finding Your Purpose

The journey of finding your purpose can be long, difficult and involved. It can seem like at some points you know exactly what you are doing and at other points you have no idea.

One may often feel like they would like to have full control over their life; but if you really think about it, that just further says how much you would need to control and how much no one has power over that many things. What is this pursuit for anyway, power, prestige, money, recognition, ease? What is it that will make you feel like you are in your purpose, feel like you are achieving? So many times we say “if I only had… then I would feel…” If I only achieved... then I would be…” But is this true? Do these things or achievements really solve anything? Usually not.

The only thing that will make you feel better in your life is growing you! It is not the new coat, it is not the bag, it is not your accomplishments, it is not that thing you built, it is literally the improvement of you from the inside out, everything else is a bonus and should be a derivative of who you are inside. Everything grows in life, plants, animals, people, and in one way or another they have the ability to rejuvenate, heal, and reproduce. Let me guarantee you that getting a fancy car, a big home, a higher paying job, will not accomplish this, just because you have it. It will not grow you, or fulfill you, or heal that void. You all know I do not think having nice or luxurious things is bad; but if you are expecting it to do something for you beyond its constructed function, you are setting yourself up for disappointment and dismay.

I believe the reason why so many people collapse at the “top” is because they never really worked on themselves while they were at the “bottom”. They never really resolved issues, addressed what was taking place in their heart, forgave themselves, forgave others, sought out what their true calling is, or asked and inquired of God (the God of the Bible) what they are supposed to do. What they are good at is pushing through everything. They pushed harder than everyone else, they worked harder, they stayed on track, and they used their skill sets for what they thought they were supposed to be used for, and how they believed it was supposed to be used. But in some odd way the stuff you build, the career you build, amplifies where you are mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
To grow is a choice that can be done in any circumstance.

Somehow the stuff amplifies what is going on inside. This is why I believe when some people heal/or are on their way to healing, they get rid of everything; because it is amplifying who they were... a past version of themselves that is in opposition to who they are growing into now. This is why there is so much excess. It is not just that they were buying to feel the void they had with stuff, it is also a reflection of the excess they have inside of them that they need to get rid of. Misery likes company; but misery also likes stuff.

Grow who you are, clean out your heart, seek and inquire of God. This is where you are going to feel satisfied, this is where you can look at the people of your past who may taunt you and say negative things to you, and know that they are not speaking truth; because you know who you were and who you are now. Grow who you are, know who you are and enjoy the ride, count it all joy. Be blessed!
